Last week, I lead a training session for new and aspiring leaders, and some of our discussion reminded me of an issue that many leaders – especially front-line leaders – confront on a regular basis. Front-line leaders frequently deal with changes, policies, and procedures that they did not create. These issues create constraints on what you can do in your leadership role, and it’s tempting to both focus on and get frustrated by these limitations – to focus on what you cannot do. In this episode, I’m proposing a way to look at these constraints so that they don’t drive you crazy.
