It's nearly the end of Gay Pride month, but it shant escape the purview if this podcast! This week, I'm joined by teacher Justin Garcia, who, among many aspects of his career, is the founder of #queer_educhat. Our conversation naturally revolves around being an LGBTQ+ teacher and what that status implies in a professional educational setting. We also discuss our students, and the challenges of helping them - LGBTQ or not - understand the sexual landscape. We touch on everything from pronoun usage to selecting content in the classroom. Our conversation is both a confirmation of how far we've come as well as a strong look at the work yet to be done to establish equity in the classroom.
