When I first conceived the idea of a conversation series, Latifa was the first person I thought of interviewing. It seemed far-fetched because she travels often but I still kept the idea in my back-pocket. Fast forward to her most recent visit to Houston where she’s in town to feature for an art show. For mama’s first day out, I attended the show and genuinely enjoyed myself. A couple days later, I invited Latifa over for tea. She brought light, she was able to meet my daughter & she provided space for me to be transparent, as I also did for her.
