Caregiver Saathi brings to you Conversations with Gentle Warriors! A series of our Facebook LIVE sessions where caregivers share their caregiving journeys, now in a podcast format.
Welcome to the 4th episode of Conversations with Gentle Warriors.
This time, we meet Seema who has been a caregiver to both her mother and her husband who has been diagnosed with ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis), also known as the Lou Gehrig's disease.
She speaks to us about how she manages parenting as well as caregiving. She tells us about the comfort and safety offered by her family, as they help her stay positive and motivated. She talks about her relationship with her husband and discusses her experience from when the diagnosis occurred until now.
“You can never be ready for what happens, as you go along you just have to take care of it"
Seema continuously encourages the need for positivity in tough situations and necessity for hopefulness while facing challenges. She also talks to us about the challenges and uncertainties she faced during her caregiving period.

If this story had an impact on you, please share it with others around you who care for someone and help them share too. It’s difficult for people to share their experiences and listening to this might help people open up and talk more about their experiences as a caregiver.
It is important for caregivers to be heard and understood and sharing one story helps the person to come out of their feeling of loneliness. It helps people lighten their load and relieves them from guilt, anger or anxiety.
