In the midst of a global epidemic and barely three years into its charter, Eta Nu Nu has had a tremendous impact on the Columbus community. The 4th District of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity has twice named Eta Nu Nu the "Social Action Chapter of the Year." The chapter has demonstrated a strong dedication to social projects by conducting breast cancer and prostate cancer awareness campaigns, offering mentorship to Columbus area schools, and awarding over $122,000 in scholarships, among many other achievements!

On the evening of November 17, 1911, Omega Psi Phi was founded inside the Science Building (later renamed Thirkield Hall) at Howard University located in Washington, D.C. The founders were three undergraduates — Edgar Amos Love, Oscar James Cooper and Frank Coleman. Joining them was their faculty adviser, Ernest Everett Just.

From the initials of the Greek phrase meaning, “friendship is essential to the soul“, the name Omega Psi Phi was derived. That phrase was selected as the motto.

For over 75 years, Phi Iota has actively served the Phoenix community. Through its Omega Youth Leadership Academy, a community-based youth development program, the chapter mentors young males in 5th–12th grade. Their "Community-Oriented Policing Taskforce" serves as a link between law enforcement and communities of color. In addition, Phi Iota engages in a wide range of additional social action projects, such as street cleanups, food and clothing assistance for the homeless, and scholarship programs.
