Jim Morris: The Rookie

You may know his story from the movie, The Rookie, starring Dennis Quaid. Jim Morris was a high school teacher and baseball coach that in an attempt to motivate his team, made a bet with his kids: if you win a district championship, I’ll go tryout for a major league team. The bet was born and with it so was The Rookie. The players won the district championship and Jim fulfilled his end of the bet, going to a tryout and throwing 12 consecutive 98 mile per hour pitches. Three months later, 35-year-old school teacher Jim Morris was striking out big league hitters in front of his high school players and family. The movie, The Rookie, won the ESPY for Sports Film of the Year, and Sports Illustrated voted it one of the five greatest baseball films ever made. Jim is the author of The Rookie.

Valerie Burton: Happy Women

Happiness is something women aspire to have in their lives. They search for it in their relationships, their jobs, in materialist items, and in what they do. But despite having better jobs, better education, more money, and more choices than ever before, today's women are actually less happy than women 40 years ago. So why is happiness for women declining?  Valorie explores how everyday habits, relationships, and time impacts a woman's ability to discover and maintain happiness. She reveals happiness triggers that can boost joy  in the midst of hectic schedules and full lives.
