Like most Black Americans growing up in Inner City Los Angeles, my diet consisted of highly processed fast foods, fried foods, breads and donuts; I ate it all. In fact, It wasn't until my sophomore year in college that I saw a real coconut in the grocery store. I was simply unaware of what it meant to eat "healthy." Like millions of Americans, I read Shape and Runners Magazines and implemented some of the recommended regiments. I thought I was healthy.
