  • Weekly Review October 28, 2025: Town and Country..Let's Talk

On October 28, 2025 in a packed chamber, the El Dorado County Board of Supervisors heard an agenda item on the Town and Country project which consisted of two large Hotel Units, a large Convention Center with amenities, and what could be up to 700 additional housing units in an undisclosed Planning Envelope. What would have resulted in a General Plan Amendment, we discuss what that means, and what the implications would mean long term for other land use decisions for development. With an end vote to move back the Planning Commission, we are not in the clear as of yet, so stay tuned and engaged.

In a complete violation of the Historical Value of the 2004 General Plan of El Dorado County, the Planning Department continues to push through projects that not only destroy the intent of the voter approved General Plan, it neglects the impacts on our water availability, traffic impacts, design structure and impacts on wildlife, and the nature of our open spaces. Let's talk Arco Gas Station, Car Wash and Park and Ride, Carson Creek and Garage Condominiums in El Dorado Hills.

  • Agenda 21 in El Dorado County: What is it, and is it closer than you think?

Most people think Agenda 21 is some made up "conspiracy theory" without really knowing what it is. Agenda 21 is a non-binding action plan of the United Nations with regard to sustainable development.[1] It is a product of the Earth Summit (UN Conference on Environment and Development) held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in 1992. It is an action agenda for the UN, other multilateral organizations, and individual governments around the world that can be executed at local, national, and global levels. One major objective of the Agenda 21 initiative is that every local government should draw its own local Agenda 21. Its aim initially was to achieve global sustainable development by 2000, with the "21" in Agenda 21 referring to the original target of the 21st century. Join the conversation with Activist and long standing community member, Sue Taylor, to understand why we must be diligent to ensure we don't lose what we love about this County

  • Navigating the El Dorado County Board of Supervisor Meetings Part 1

In a Constitutional Republic, the citizen voters are the stake holders in our Governmental system, which includes electing a Board of Supervisor for each District 1-5, the Sheriff, DA, County Auditor and Recorder,  in addition to the many departments, CAO and County Council they appoint and employ to serve us. Every week the Board of Supervisors is given the task to make a multitude of decisions that effect all of our lives, yet citizen engagement is at an all time low. We hope this series will empower you to be informed, speak out and reach out. It is never too late to have a Day 1 of citizen engagement.
