Upon escaping from my narcissistic ex-husbands control, there came a point during the divorce that a parenting plan was implemented. Through research, I quickly stumbled upon parallel parenting. Parallel parenting refers to a method of co-parenting in which each parent has their own parenting approach when the children are with them. In parallel parenting, parents do not attend the same functions, appointments, or child-related events. I certainly agree that parallel parenting would work in many circumstances. But when dealing with a narcissist, there is no such thing as coparenting or parallel parenting. The very moment you release control, and show no interest to the narcissist parenting, they will do something that's related to the child, that will certainly get your attention.
