A sermon series on community would be incomplete without a biblical examination of the family. After all, community began with a family (the historic Adam and Eve) and continues through the family unit. In this sermon, Pastor Matt examines the key texts of scripture that reveal the family unit as the central core of community in the plan of God. We consider the revelation of the book of Genesis, reflecting upon the narratives that record the establishment and corruption of the family unit. We then turn to Ephesians 5 to consider didactic teaching from God on what He desires of the family unit, exploring marriage and parenting as critical components to the family and community. In this sermon, we reflect on the sociological drama of our culture that is suffering under the hands of broken families and we turn to God's grace to be the solution for this brokenness.
