Corey Snyder served as an 0331 Machine Gunner with 1st Battalion, 8th Marines. Specifically, he was assigned to 1/8's Combined Anti-Armor Team (CAAT) just as the battalion was preparing for its scheduled 2021 deployment. He and many others had no idea that their deployment would occur during the same time as the Taliban's final offensive which resulted in their capturing of the Afghan capital of Kabul and the collapse of the Western backed government of Afghanistan. What could have prepared him and his comrades for such an experience?
