The French Navy is facing the wrath of Irish fishing crews.

The Irish South and West Producers Organisation is planning protests to block French vessels from carrying out military exercises off the south west coast later this month.

It's the same group that persuaded the Russian navy to abandon its plans for exercises in the international waters off the Cork coast.

The group says the proposed military drills by France have the potential to cause 'catastrophic environmental damage'.
