COG STUDIOS, Calif. -- The LA Galaxy are back in the MLS playoff race after a crucial 2-0 victory over the Portland Timbers! But with just four games remaining in the 2026 regular season, can Greg Vanney's team keep the momentum going against San Diego FC?
On this episode of Corner of the Galaxy, Josh Guesman and Eric Vieira break down the Galaxy's much-needed response to their embarrassing 6-2 loss to St. Louis CITY SC. Marco Reus opened the scoring, Justin Haak found redemption with a second-half goal, and JT Marcinkowski earned LA's first clean sheet in nine matches.
But was this a turning point for the Galaxy or simply three necessary points against a struggling Portland team?
The guys examine Vanney's surprising decision to start Emiro Garcés, John Nelson's impressive defensive performance, and the growing contributions of João Klauss, Robert Taylor, Joseph Paintsil, and Sergi Roberto. They also discuss LA's improved attacking production, the importance of scoring first, and whether the Galaxy have finally found a formula that works.
With 39 points and four games remaining, the Western Conference playoff race is tightening. Can the Galaxy secure a postseason berth? And how much will their final results influence Greg Vanney's future as head coach?
Then it's time to preview Saturday's massive Southern California showdown against San Diego FC!
The Galaxy have yet to defeat San Diego in their previous meetings, and with Chucky Lozano still sidelined, LA faces another difficult test. Josh and Eric examine the matchup, injury concerns, potential lineup decisions, and what the Galaxy must do to collect another three points.
Plus, the LA Riot Squad celebrates its 25th anniversary, former Galaxy star Gyasi Zardes returns to Dignity Health Sports Park, and the guys deliver their predictions for Saturday night.
Can the Galaxy turn a disappointing season into an unlikely playoff run? Or will San Diego once again stand in their way?

COG STUDIOS, Calif. -- The LA Galaxy's playoff hopes are hanging in the balance after a devastating 6-2 loss to St. Louis CITY SC. With just five games remaining in the 2026 MLS regular season, can Greg Vanney's team recover in time for two critical home matches?
On this episode of Corner of the Galaxy, Josh Guesman and Damian Calhoun break down one of LA's most disappointing performances of the season, the defensive mistakes that led to six goals conceded, and the coaching decisions that could determine whether the Galaxy reach the MLS Cup Playoffs.
Greg Vanney admits he prioritized the upcoming home games against Portland and San Diego. But was sacrificing the opportunity to compete in St. Louis the right decision? Josh and Damian examine Vanney's postgame comments, Justin Haak's difficult night, and the defensive struggles that continue to haunt the Galaxy despite significant offseason investments.
Meanwhile, João Klauss delivers a passionate message following the defeat, demanding accountability and a response against Portland. But with Chucky Lozano sidelined, Kyogo Furuhashi dealing with a potential hamstring injury, and Marco Reus and Joseph Paintsil requiring careful management, LA's depth is being tested at the worst possible moment.
The guys also dive into the Western Conference playoff standings, the Galaxy's troubling defensive statistics, and why Wednesday's matchup with the Portland Timbers could be the most important game of the season.
With Portland winless in its last five matches, is this LA's opportunity to bounce back? Josh and Damian preview the tactical matchup, debate potential lineup changes, and deliver their score predictions.
Plus, they examine Greg Vanney's future with the Galaxy, his contract through 2028, and whether the organization shares the growing frustration among supporters.
Can the Galaxy turn a humiliating defeat into a season-saving response? Or will this be the week their playoff hopes unravel?
🎙️ Corner of the Galaxy brings you the analysis, postgame reactions, injury updates, and Portland Timbers preview ahead of a potentially season-defining Wednesday night.

COG STUDIOS, Calif. -- The LA Galaxy are entering their most important week of the 2026 MLS season — and they'll have to navigate it without Chucky Lozano.
With just six regular-season games remaining, the Galaxy face a brutal stretch of three matches in seven days, starting with a difficult road trip to St. Louis CITY SC. On this episode of Corner of the Galaxy, Josh Guesman and Eric Vieira break down the latest injury news, Greg Vanney's lineup decisions, and a Western Conference playoff race that could change dramatically in a matter of days.
The biggest development? Chucky Lozano is officially out for at least the next three games after an MRI confirmed a mild hamstring sprain. That leaves the Galaxy without one of their most dynamic attacking players at a critical moment. Josh and Eric discuss what Lozano's absence means for LA's postseason hopes — and whether his injury could complicate the club's decision about his future as a Designated Player.
There is some good news: Joseph Paintsil is back, having scored in his return against Cruz Azul. But with his minutes still limited, the Galaxy will need contributions from Robert Taylor, Harbor Miller, Eric Thommy and others to fill the gap. Meanwhile, Marco Reus also requires careful management, leaving Vanney with some difficult decisions about how to distribute playing time.
And then there's João Klauss, who returns to St. Louis for the first time since leaving the club. With seven goals in limited minutes this season, Klauss has become an important part of LA's recent turnaround. Can he deliver against his former team?
The challenge is enormous. St. Louis enters the matchup riding a 17-game unbeaten streak in MLS, sitting near the top of the Western Conference and presenting one of the toughest tests on the Galaxy's remaining schedule.
But the bigger picture extends beyond Sunday. With crucial home matches against Portland and San Diego immediately afterward, LA has a chance to strengthen its postseason position—or watch its recent momentum disappear.
Josh and Eric also examine the Western Conference standings, the results Galaxy fans should be watching around MLS, and whether Vanney should prioritize the upcoming home games over a difficult road matchup. They debate what LA's recent comeback victories really tell us about the team — and whether the Galaxy are genuinely improving or simply finding ways to survive.
With the pressure mounting on Vanney, every lineup decision could have consequences well beyond the next 90 minutes.
Can the Galaxy keep their season alive without Lozano? Can Klauss make the difference against his former club? And will this be the week that determines LA's postseason fate?

COG STUDIOS, Calif. -- The LA Galaxy playoff push is about to hit its most important stretch of the season — and suddenly Chucky Lozano’s health is a major concern.
On this episode of Corner of the Galaxy, Josh Guesman is joined by Southern California News Group reporter Damian Calhoun to break down where the Galaxy stand with only six games remaining. And the schedule is about to accelerate dramatically: LA will play three of those final six matches in just seven days, putting Greg Vanney’s roster depth, rotation, and playoff hopes under enormous pressure.
The biggest question surrounds Chucky Lozano, who left Mexico’s camp with what Vanney described as a hamstring injury. With an MRI and further evaluation needed, Josh and Damian discuss just how costly even a short absence could be. Missing only one week could mean missing half of the Galaxy’s remaining regular-season games.
There is some encouraging injury news. Joseph Paintsil returned against Cruz Azul and scored, giving LA another attacking option just when it may need one most. But how quickly can Paintsil be brought back to full speed, and how does Vanney manage minutes for Paintsil, Marco Reus, Sergi Roberto and the rest of the roster during a three-game week?
The guys also dig into the MLS Western Conference playoff race. LA sits ninth and currently occupies a play-in position, with Colorado level on points and Portland, Real Salt Lake and San Diego four points behind. The Galaxy have created some breathing room, but the goal is bigger than simply hanging onto ninth — and with 18 points still available, there is plenty left to decide.
Then it's time to look ahead to a difficult trip to St. Louis, followed quickly by massive games against Portland and San Diego. Those matches could reshape the playoff race in a matter of days, and LA will have almost no meaningful training time between them.
Plus, Josh and Damian discuss Marco Reus being named Galaxy Player of the Month, what they learned from the 2-1 friendly loss to Cruz Azul, concerns about Kyogo Furuhashi's finishing, some promising performances from LA's younger players, and the latest encouraging signs from Riqui Puig's recovery.
Six games remain. Three are coming in one week. Chucky's status is uncertain. Paintsil is returning. And the Galaxy's margin for error is getting smaller by the day.
🎙️ Corner of the Galaxy gets you ready for the final sprint toward the MLS Cup Playoffs.

COG STUDIOS, Calif. -- On this episode of Corner of the Galaxy, Josh Guesman and LA Times soccer reporter Kevin Baxter break down the Galaxy’s wild 3-2 comeback victory over the Colorado Rapids, their second consecutive come-from-behind win by the same scoreline. For the first time this season, LA has won back-to-back games, and with only six matches remaining, the Western Conference playoff race has taken a dramatic turn.
But this one looked lost at halftime.
Colorado carried a 2-0 lead into the break, repeatedly finding space behind the Galaxy defense. Then Greg Vanney changed the approach. LA became far more aggressive with its pressure, disrupted Colorado’s attempts to play out of the back, and turned that pressure into opportunities. The result? Three unanswered second-half goals and three enormous points.
João Klauss continues to show just how much the Galaxy missed him. After months away, the striker is creating problems again, and his pressure directly produced another goal against Colorado. Then Justin Haak delivered the winner, heading home Robert Taylor’s corner for his first LA Galaxy goal and earning recognition on the MLS Team of the Matchday.

Josh and Kevin also examine the tactical details behind the comeback. Sergi Roberto and Pablo Ruiz started together in midfield, while Vanney's second-half adjustments allowed Roberto to exert more control and Haak to push into unexpected spaces. Add Marco Reus as a dangerous second-half option, and the Galaxy may be discovering a formula that can change games late.
And don't overlook JT Marcinkowski. The goalkeeper made crucial saves that kept a 2-0 deficit from becoming something much worse, and the Galaxy have now rewarded him with a contract extension. Josh and Kevin discuss his remarkable path back from a serious injury and why his performances have become so important to LA's playoff push.
Then comes the big question: Are the Galaxy actually going to make the MLS Cup Playoffs?
LA has climbed into a playoff position in the table, but games in hand and points per game tell a more complicated story. The Galaxy still have work to do; their goal differential could become important in a tiebreaker, and six matches remain to determine whether this late-season surge ends with postseason soccer.
Two weeks. Two halftime deficits. Two 3-2 comeback victories.
The Galaxy have finally found some momentum. Now they have to prove they can keep it.
🎙️ Corner of the Galaxy breaks down the Colorado comeback, Vanney's tactical changes, Haak and Klauss stepping up, Marcinkowski's new contract, and the playoff math with six games to go.

The LA Galaxy playoff push has reached another critical weekend.
On this episode of Corner of the Galaxy, Josh Guesman and Eric Vieira get you ready for LA Galaxy vs. Colorado Rapids at Dignity Health Sports Park — a matchup against the team sitting directly above LA in the Western Conference standings. After a dramatic comeback victory over Minnesota United, the Galaxy have an opportunity to do something they haven't done all season: win back-to-back games and pull Colorado directly into the crowded playoff fight.
But Greg Vanney will have to shuffle his lineup.
Chucky Lozano will miss the Colorado match while away with the Mexican National Team, leaving the Galaxy without one of their most dangerous attacking pieces. Joseph Paintsil is progressing in his return from injury but was considered unlikely to be available for the weekend. The good news? Sergi Roberto and Elijah Wynder are both available for selection, giving LA some badly needed reinforcements for the final stretch.
Josh and Eric discuss what Lozano's absence means for the Galaxy attack and why the potential midfield combination of Sergi Roberto and Pablo Ruiz could become one of the most interesting tactical developments of the weekend. Ruiz has quickly emerged as an important piece for LA, bringing composure, distribution, and another dangerous weapon from outside the box.
Then it's time to break down the Colorado Rapids. How does Colorado want to play? Where can the Galaxy exploit them? And could a Colorado team willing to possess the ball and press through midfield actually create opportunities for LA to attack quickly in transition? With Marco Reus, João Klauss, Robert Taylor and Ruiz available, the Galaxy may have the pieces to punish Colorado if they can successfully play through the Rapids' pressure.
The guys also dig into the Western Conference playoff race, where the standings don't tell the entire story. When the conference is sorted by points per game, LA's position becomes even more precarious. With seven matches remaining, scoreboard watching has officially begun — and Portland, Seattle, San Diego, Austin, Real Salt Lake and Colorado are all part of the equation.
Plus, John Nelson reaches 100 appearances for the Galaxy, and we explain why his defensive stability could become increasingly valuable during the stretch run.
The Minnesota comeback gave the Galaxy some life. Now comes the harder part: proving they can build on it.
Seven games remain. Colorado is directly ahead of LA. Chucky is away. Sergi Roberto is back. And the Galaxy's margin for error is disappearing.

COG STUDIOS, Calif. -- The LA Galaxy needed a response in Minnesota — and they got one.
Recording LIVE from Long Beach Beer Lab, Josh Guesman, Sophie Nicolaou and Kevin Baxter break down the Galaxy’s dramatic 3-2 comeback victory over Minnesota United, a result that keeps LA firmly in the Western Conference playoff fight. After trailing 2-1 at halftime, the Galaxy found another gear in the second half, with Marco Reus and João Klauss coming off the bench and completely changing the match.
Reus delivered a superstar performance, while Klauss announced his return with a massive header. Their impact also raises some fascinating questions for Greg Vanney: Should Klauss return to the starting lineup? Could Kyogo Furuhashibecome even more dangerous against tired defenses? And has the Galaxy finally developed enough depth to change games from the bench instead of relying exclusively on their starting XI?
The guys also discuss Chucky Lozano, who continues to work, create fouls and make an impact but still has another attacking gear the Galaxy need to find. With Lozano recently called back into the Mexican National Team picture, his performances during the final stretch could also play an important role in determining his future with LA.
And what does this victory mean for the MLS playoff race? Seven games remain, the Galaxy are fighting around the playoff line, and their remaining schedule includes several direct Western Conference competitors. The panel works through the road ahead and debates whether this comeback could finally be the result that changes the direction of LA's season.
Plus, Sergi Roberto and Joseph Paintsil could be getting closer to returning, Robert Taylor continues to make a case for his place in the lineup, and the discussion turns to which players have made the strongest cases for Galaxy Player and Defender of the Year.
It’s a lively Corner of the Galaxy postgame show recorded in front of Galaxy fans in Long Beach after one of LA's biggest road victories of the season.
LA Galaxy 3. Minnesota United 2. Seven games remain — and the playoff race is very much alive.

COG STUDIOS, Calif. -- The LA Galaxy picked up a massive three points in the MLS playoff race with a dramatic 3-2 comeback win over Minnesota United, and suddenly the final seven games of the 2026 season have even more meaning.
On this episode of Corner of the Galaxy, Josh Guesman and Kevin Baxter break down the Galaxy’s road victory, including Pablo Ruiz’s free-kick goal, the second-half impact of João Klauss, and another huge performance from Marco Reus, who came off the bench to help turn a 2-1 deficit into a Galaxy win.
With Klauss getting healthy, the Galaxy finally have a different dimension in the attack. What does his return mean for Kyogo Furuhashi? How can LA get more from Chucky Lozano? And should Reus continue carrying the attack as the Galaxy fight their way toward the postseason?
Josh and Kevin also take a detailed look at the MLS Western Conference playoff race. Seven games remain, and LA's upcoming schedule is packed with teams directly around them in the standings. That makes the next match against the Colorado Rapids particularly important: a Galaxy victory could pull Colorado back toward the pack, while a loss could put significant distance between LA and seventh place.
Plus, we discuss LA's Designated Player situation, possible offseason roster decisions, the importance of getting Sergi Roberto and Joseph Paintsil healthy, and what the Galaxy need to prove before anyone can believe the Minnesota victory represents a genuine late-season turnaround.
And we recap an incredible night with Galaxy fans at Long Beach Beer Lab, where roughly 80 people packed the venue to watch the match and join COG for a live postgame show.
Seven games. A crowded Western Conference. And everything still to play for.
Corner of the Galaxy has you covered for the final stretch of the LA Galaxy's 2026 MLS season.

COG STUDIOS, Calif. -- The LA Galaxy have eight games remaining in the 2026 MLS regular season, and the margin for error in their playoff push is disappearing. On this episode of Corner of the Galaxy, Josh Guesman and Sophie Nicolaou examine the Western Conference playoff race, the pressure surrounding Greg Vanney, and why Saturday’s road matchup against Minnesota United could be pivotal to LA’s postseason hopes.
There’s encouraging LA Galaxy injury news ahead of Minnesota. Sergi Roberto is trending in the right direction after his shoulder injury and could return sooner than initially feared. Elijah Wynder is also nearing availability, while Marco Reus is expected to be ready for Saturday. Plus, João Klauss discusses the physical and mental challenges of his injury recovery and return to the field.
The show also breaks down the Galaxy’s 2026 roster construction and MLS salary mechanisms, including newly released General Allocation Money figures, Designated Players, U22 Initiative players, TAM contracts and international roster slots. After a significant summer roster overhaul, has Will Kuntz given Vanney the pieces necessary to reach the playoffs? And Chucky Lozano earns a return to the Mexican National Team as he prepares to play a major role in LA’s stretch run.
Finally, Josh and Sophie preview LA Galaxy vs. Minnesota United and what the Galaxy need on the road. Six of LA’s final eight games come against teams directly involved in the playoff battle, meaning the opportunity is still there. But with the season rapidly approaching its conclusion, the Galaxy need results — and their playoff push needs to start now.

COG STUDIOS, Calif. -- The LA Galaxy let two critical points slip away against the Seattle Sounders, turning a late 1-0 lead into a frustrating 1-1 draw at Dignity Health Sports Park. Josh Guesman and Kevin Baxter break down a match the Galaxy needed to win, from missed opportunities in front of goal to the defensive breakdown that allowed Seattle to equalize in the closing minutes. LA created chances but couldn't find the second goal, continuing a season-long problem of failing to turn leads into victories.
Now the MLS Cup Playoff race gets even more difficult. The Galaxy remain alive in a crowded Western Conference, but the Seattle draw puts even more pressure on their remaining eight games. LA hasn't won consecutive matches all season, yet the teams surrounding them are struggling too, leaving an unlikely opening if the Galaxy can finally find some consistency. The problem? After failing to capitalize at home, they now need to start finding points on the road — beginning with Minnesota United.
The biggest concern, however, may be Sergi Roberto's shoulder injury. Roberto appeared at the Galaxy's season-ticket event with his arm in a sling, and his potential absence could remove one of the most important pieces of LA's rebuilt midfield. Marco Reus also left the Seattle match with a groin concern, while Joseph Paintsil continues to work through a thigh issue. For a Galaxy team whose improved depth was supposed to become an advantage down the stretch, another wave of injuries could dramatically change the playoff equation.
Josh and Kevin also revisit Saturday's Corner of the Galaxy LIVE show with Riqui Puig, Will Kuntz and Tom Braun, including Puig's emotional return to the spotlight and his emphatic support of head coach Greg Vanney. That leads directly into the growing questions surrounding Vanney's future: is making the playoffs enough, and what happens if the Galaxy fall short? The discussion examines both Vanney's 2024 MLS Cup championship and a Galaxy team that has struggled to produce consistent results in 2026.
Finally, the Galaxy turn their attention to Minnesota United and a road match that could define their playoff push. Lucas Calegari's return provides a boost, and LA suddenly has more options off the bench, but draws aren't going to be enough forever. Minnesota sits right in the same congested portion of the Western Conference table, making Saturday another opportunity to take three points while denying them to a direct competitor. The Galaxy survived Seattle, but they lost another precious week — and the clock on their 2026 season is getting louder.
