This is Coronavirus 411, the latest COVID-19 info and new hotspots… Just the facts… for Monday June 29th, 2020. Globally, Sunday saw another record day with 189,077 new cases reported. While the U.S. crossed 2.5 million, 25% of the world’s more than 10 million. Cities across Florida will close beaches over the 4th of July weekend as the state reported more than 8500 cases on Sunday. Vice President Pence, speaking in Dallas, encouraged all Americans to wear a mask to stop the spread of the virus. The Governor of California order bars to close in a number of counties, including Los Angeles. Texas and Florida also closed bars. New York State reported 5 COVID-19 related deaths on Sunday, their lowest since March 15th. Coronavirus Task Force Member Dr. Fauci, expressed concerns that a vaccine would likely not help the U.S. achieve herd immunity if people refuse to get it.
More than 400,000 in a county southwest of Beijing, China, have re-entered lockdown after 18 cases were linked to a market. Australia reported 75 cases in Victoria, their largest increase since early April. Japan reported their largest one-day increase since May 25th. Three Indian states will expand lockdown measures through July 31st. Iran’s President said this has been the toughest year in the country’s history. A report from the United Kingdom warns that COVID-19 patients who were hospitalized in the ICU, may develop PTSD. In the Frankfort Germany airport, there is now a walk-in coronavirus testing center. Results are sent within hours of the test, helpful if you are entering a country that requires a recent negative test, reports The Guardian.
