This is Coronavirus 411, the latest COVID-19 info and new hotspots… Just the facts… for Wednesday July 1st, 2020. Coronavirus Task Force Member Dr. Fauci, told a Senate Committee, that the country is going in the wrong direction with the fight against coronavirus. And if things don’t change, we could see 100,000 cases a day. New records were set in Alaska, Arizona, Idaho, Oklahoma, South Carolina and Texas. New cases in the U.S. rose 80% in the last 2 weeks, according to The New York Times. Colorado joined Texas, Florida and Arizona in closing bars. Virginia has delayed the reopening of bars there. The Senate agreed to extend the Paycheck Protection Program for small businesses. It will now move to The House. Goldman Sachs said a nationwide mask mandate, would help the country avoid further shutdowns and could prevent an almost 5% drop in GDP.
300,000 in the suburbs of Melbourne, Australia re-entered lock down. 370 active cases have been reported in the area. The EU will open borders to travelers from 14 countries that are deemed to have COVID-19 under control. The US, Brazil and Russia have not met the criteria. The UN Security Council is expected to adopt a resolution for all countries to “adopt a halt in hostilities to focus on COVID-19” reports CNN.
