This is Coronavirus 411, the latest COVID-19 info and new hotspots… Just the facts… for Wednesday July 8th, 2020. The U.S. is on the verge of 3 million COVID-19 cases, with 54,160 reported yesterday, according to the New York Times. California, Hawaii, Missouri, Montana, Oklahoma and Texas set new single day records.  Florida, Texas and Arizona continue to struggle with high hospitalizations and dwindling ICU beds. Despite the continued rise in cases, The President urged Governor’s to reopen schools in the fall, stating “We’re very much going to put pressure on governors and everybody else to open the schools, to get them open”. The National Education Association, National Parent Teacher Association and American Federation of Teachers issued a joint statement noting, “we could be putting students, their families and educators in danger”. Coronavirus Task Force Member Dr. Fauci, said he is strongly in favor of local mask mandates. A number of movie theater chains have filed a lawsuit against The Governor of New Jersey for not letting them reopen. 

The Trump Administration gave formal notice of withdrawal from World Health Organization, with complete separation in July of 2021. After months of downplaying the virus, The President of Brazil has tested positive for COVID-19. Protesters in Serbia surrounded the Parliament building to protest new lockdown measures. The World Health Organization acknowledged emerging evidence of airborne transmission of COVID-19.
