This is Coronavirus 411, the latest COVID-19 info and new hotspots… Just the facts… for Monday August 24th, 2020. The FDA issued an emergency use authorization for convalescent plasma for the treatment of COVID-19. Florida and Texas have crossed over 600,000 cases. The Governor of Texas said they are staging transport aircraft, disinfecting teams and mobile testing sites, as they brace for a hurricane followed by a tropical storm.  Officials in Louisiana are encouraging residents to put masks, hand sanitizer and PPE in their emergency kits and to only shelter with members of their household. 400 cases have been diagnosed in 20 days on the Notre Dame campus, they have suspended in person classes. The Chair of the RNC, says they plan to test all Republican National Convention attendees on arrival in Charlotte. 

South Korea has suspended in person classes in nearly 2,000 schools. The President of South Korea warned the new virus crisis is much more severe than the first. Peru is approaching 600,000 cases. France reported their highest daily total post lockdown Sunday with 4,897. Lebanon has re-instated a partial lockdown.  The UK Prime Minister said it was “vitally important” that students there get back in the classroom next week.
