Michigan lifted their stay at home order, retail will open Thursday, bars & restaurants Monday. New Jersey resumes outdoor dining and retail on the 15th. In Mississippi, all business can reopen and travel restrictions have been lifted as of yesterday. In spite of the fact that cases in Mississippi are on the rise. They began the reopening April 27th. There are 15,752 confirmed cases in Mississippi, 529 per 100,000 residents. A higher rate per 100,000 than more populous states like California, Texas and Florida. Though 11,203 are listed as “presumed recovered” on the Mississippi Department of Health website, leaving 4,549 active cases. The state has increased testing over the last few weeks, including universal testing for long term care facilities, according to Mississippi Today.
A report by the Congressional Budget Office projects the U.S. economy will grow by 7.9 trillion dollars less over the next decade due to the pandemic. Coronavirus Task Force Member Dr. Fauci, told CNN he has not spoken or met with The President in two weeks. The Mayor of Atlanta extended hazard pay for front line workers through September 30th.
Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates, has shut down for a week to conduct intensive COVID-19 testing, reports The Washington Post. The World Health Organization says there are 133 potential vaccines in development around the world. Health Commissioners in Wuhan, China say they have conducted 9.9 million tests in a little over 2 weeks and have found no new cases. For the first time since March, Spain reported no COVID-19 related deaths.
