This is Coronavirus 411, the latest COVID-19 info and new hotspots… Just the facts… for November 6th, 2020.


Dr. Anthony Fauci has in the past said expect a “whole lot of pain” going into the winter months of the pandemic. Now he’s gotten more specific. It’s smaller cities who should be on guard, especially in the northwest and central U.S. This mostly because they lack the resources and experience with the virus larger city hospitals have. Example, El Paso, TX, where hospitalizations have tripled in a little over two weeks.


The National Health Service in England has gone to its highest alert level. That means staff can be moved around the country, and patients can be sent to other regions for treatment if local services are overwhelmed.


A Missouri elections supervisor who knew they tested positive and worked at a polling site on Election Day anyway has died. It’s unclear what caused the death, but the positive test was on Oct. 30 and the official failed to isolate for the recommended two-week period.


The CDC says health care workers will almost certainly get the first doses of any COVID-19 vaccine in the U.S. once approved. Not just doctors and nurses, but even support personnel. It’s expected those first vaccine doses will roll out in December or early January.


However, while the world waits for a vaccine, the world is also increasingly saying, they won’t take it. A World Economic Forum survey shows the number of people globally saying they would get the vaccine is actually dropping. Across 15 countries, intent is down 4 points to 73% since August.


The top 10 counties with the highest number of recent cases per capita according to The New York Times: Luce, MI. Norton, KS. Toole, MT. Bon Homme, SD. Walsh, ND. Cavalier, ND. Wells, ND. Potter, SD. Ellsworth, KS. And San Saba, TX.


There are now 3,338,097 active cases in the United States. The current Top 10 states by number of active cases: California, Florida, Arizona, Virginia, Texas surpasses Georgia, Illinois, Missouri, Maryland, and Alabama.


The five states with the most daily new cases per capita over 7 days are North Dakota, South Dakota, Wyoming, Wisconsin, and Montana.


The retransmission rate is currently highest in Maine, Vermont, Minnesota, Iowa, and Nebraska. There is only one state with a retransmission rate below 1 and that is Mississippi. 


There’ve been a total 234,911 deaths in the US reported as COVID-related, with a current national fatality rate of 2.49%.


The states with the most new deaths reported as COVID-related: Texas 126. Illinois 97. Georgia 56. Michigan 51. California 48. Indiana 47. Florida and Pennsylvania 42. North Carolina 41. And Wisconsin 38.


Globally, there are now 12,797,974 active cases.


There are 589,701 new cases around the world in the last 24 hours, which sets another new record one day high.


The five countries with the most new cases: the United States 118,204. France 58,046. India 47,622. Italy 34,505. And Poland 27,143. 


There have now been 1,232,214 deaths worldwide. Up 31% over 14 days.
