The confirmed US death toll from coronavirus tops a quarter of a million and that’s the highest in world. More stats in a moment.


The FDA granted emergency authorization to the first at-home, self-testing rapid result kit. The Lucira COVID-19 All-In-One Test Kit is a molecular single-use nasal swab test and requires a prescription. Results come in 30 minutes or less and are shown on the light-up display.


Pfizer says new test results show its vaccine is actually 95% effective. They also say it’s safe and protects older people. The company can now seek emergency use of limited shot supplies. The first estimated effectiveness rate was 90%.


Weddings continue to be a problem where virus containment is concerned. A recent one in Ohio was attended by 83 people, nearly half of whom tested positive after. The bride, who was among the infected, said, “You're in the moment. You don't think about COVID anymore." And in the hotspot of Washington state, a wedding attended by over 300 people has been linked to nearly 40 cases so far. State restrictions say weddings should be limited to 30 people.


It’s an issue. Really. Glasses fogging up when you wear a mask. Popular Science published the top methods for fighting the fog and they include use a mask with an adjustable noseband, wash the lenses with soapy water and let air dry, wear a mask extender that tightens behind your head, use tissues as a buffer between your mask and nose, and their highest rated method - literally surgical tape the mask down on your nose.


The top 10 counties with the highest number of recent cases per capita according to The New York Times: Crowley, CO. Jones, TX. Lee, KY. Foster, ND. Rawlins, KS. Stutsman, ND. Gray, TX. Jones, IA. Pierce, ND. And Johnson, NE.


There are now 4,450,477 active cases in the United States. The current Top 10 states by number of active cases: California, Illinois, Florida, Arizona, Texas, Missouri, Virginia, Maryland, and Michigan surpasses Georgia.


The five states with the most daily new cases per capita over 7 days are North Dakota, South Dakota, Iowa, Minnesota, and Wyoming.


The reproduction rate is currently highest in Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine, New Jersey, and Washington. There is one state with a reproduction rate below 1 and that is Mississippi.


There’ve been a total 250,483 deaths in the US reported as COVID-related, with a current national fatality rate of 2.21%.


The states with the most new deaths reported as COVID-related: Texas 205. Illinois 151. California 112. Pennsylvania 110. Florida 87. Minnesota 67. Michigan 62. Kansas 60. Indiana 59. And Georgia 57.


Globally, there are now 15,853,798 active cases.


There are 528,852 new cases around the world in the last 24 hours against a high of 656,099 on November 12.


The five countries with the most new cases: the United States 173,632. India 45,439. Brazil 35,645. Italy 34,283. And France 28,383.


There have now been 1,348,348 deaths worldwide. Up 30% over 14 days.
