New York City’s mayor acknowledged Black and Latino residents are getting vaccines at far lower rates than white or Asian residents. And that does not include another 435 infected who arrived from abroad. Two people have died in January, the first reported coronavirus deaths in China in several months.

Israel extended a national lockdown as new strains are offsetting its vaccination drive. While 24% of citizens have been vaccinated, a projected mid-January turnaround didn’t happen. Serious cases have surged among Israelis who have not yet been vaccinated.
