Probably most of us at some point in our lives have heard the saying, “It’s the inside that counts.” This statement can be used to describe things and people that are both attractive and unattractive. Large or small. Strong or weak. The point of the statement is to help the hearer to realize that no matter what the outside looks like, the inside is just as important, if not more so.
Background: Time and again throughout the Bible, God communicates the same. Whether speaking of a building, a body, or THE body, God is more concerned with what makes up the inside than anything else. After completing the construction of the wall, Nehemiah begins working on building up the people. In tonight’s message we are going to see three “exercises” that Nehemiah performed to build up the body of God’s people. These are exercises that we too can put into practice to help grow this body as well.
