Everyone has a different threshold for their capacity for commitment. Some people will never commit fully to anyone or anything. Others, however, do not know the meaning of the word “no” and will commit to every task and person that comes their way. When it comes to the Lord, He wants to be in a fully committed relationship with us. To fully commit to the Lord though, we must start from a place of confession for our failure in this regard, and then take some deliberate steps.

Background: This is where God’s people found themselves as well. After looking in His Word and coming to grips with how far they were from it, they began to try to implement it into the various areas of their lives. Following the Feast of Tabernacles, God’s people came face to face their lack of commitment to Him as evidenced in their unholy unions with others. Upon realizing this, they had to take some steps to from confession to commitment.
