A Queensland coroner has ruled that 19-year-old Canadian backpacker Piper James died from drowning as a consequence of a dingo attack on K'gari on 19 January. Her body was found on the beach surrounded by approximately 10 dingoes, with injuries consistent with dingo bites. Eight dingoes identified through ear tags have been put down by the Department of Environment, with operations ongoing.
