On our Legally Speaking feature we spoke to the Justice Department about the issue of parole and the harm caused by parolees to the public. This follows comments made by Police Minister Bheki Cele at the funeral service of murdered eight-year old Tazne Van Wyk at Elsies River on the Cape Flats. President Cyril Ramaphosa earlier visited the family of Van Wyk and undertook to review the parole system. Today we bring you a perspective from the side of Correctional Services as to what their duty is to parolees. How do they manage and monitor them? Also as far as they are concerned, where are the loopholes?
