The Victorian government announced a snap five-day lockdown to deal with COVID-19 Delta variant cases popping up in the state as a result Victorians returning from New South Wales who tested positive and the removalist crew of three who hauled furniture from Sydney to Melbourne and then on to Adelaide – causing headaches for health officials in three states. The lockdown began at 11:59pm on Thursday 15th of July and at the time of publication, is still hoped to end tomorrow night (11:59pm Tuesday 20th of July). The decision could be delayed right up until tomorrow depending on the level of control over the outbreak that contact tracers and health officials believe they’ve reached.
