Robert Owens selects 5 tracks to send into space on a cassette to teach aliens about life on earth.
Robert Owens is a house music DJ and singer working just as hard now as the start of his career.
As a self-described 'club kid', his name is synonymous with the birth and formation of the early 'golden era' underground Chicago house music scene. Forming Fingers Inc. with Ron Wilson and Larry Heard in the mid-1980s, the group played a part in defining the genre.
We got into finding solace in gospel choirs despite a difficult relationship with religion, living in London and seeing Princess Diana, looking to find The One on the dancefloor, falling out and making up with Frankie Knuckles and David Morales, and why kindness is key.
Robert's selections:
I'll Be Your Friend - Robert Owens
Joe Smooth - Promised Land
Risqué III (K’Alexi Shelby) - Essence Of A Dream
The One Unlimited Touch - Searching To Find The One
The Chambers Brothers - Stealin' Watermelons
