Luke 14
There is a cost to everything we do. Time, money, energy, effort etc.
In Luke 14 Jesus says "Count the cost". In this message Pastor Jeremy leads us as we consider the cost of our obedience and disobedience to God.
Following Jesus will cost you. The benefit far outweighs the cost. But there is a cost. Take any of the major characters in the Bible. In each one of their stories we see the tension of "the cost" of obedience and disobedience played out.
3. Disobedience
Over and over in the stories of the Bible we find disobedience is COSTLY, not only for the individual but for the community around them, not only for the present but for generations. God redeems our disobedience, but there is a loss and a drastic cost. The story of David is a tragic one that portrays this struggle with emphasis.
2. The Pruning
God's pruning is often painful, there's a wound left, but He is training us for obedience. He is training us for His purposes, and it Is for our good to bear fruit.
3. Don't refuse to be inconvenienced
If we refuse to be inconvenienced by God, we forfeit our privilege to be part of His plans. He's calling us up into relationship. Relationship has a cost. But we can trust Him. When we do, the power of God flows freely.
Its a hard truth but when we walk in disobedience we will not have peace. We can't have joy. God is moved by our baby steps of obedience toward Him, but He won' t be content until we are able to run in obedience with Him. Take another step of obedience toward HIM this week!
We love ya!
