As we celebrate the Women Month, we're thrilled to welcome Confidence Ratau to Cotton Sensei Podcast for an exclusive debut guest mix, professionally known as Lee Da Cocktail hailing from Schoonord, Limpopo. Lee Da Cocktail has consistently demonstrated resilience and determination in overcoming the many challenges of the music industry. Her journey began in 2013, performing as a resident DJ at a pub in Protea Glen, Soweto, where she played for three months with little to no financial reward. Despite the adversity, she remained committed to her craft and pressed forward with unwavering dedication.
Today, she shares stages with some of the most prominent and legendary DJs at major events, and she has dipped her interest in music production. Lee Da Cocktail has performed across nearly all provinces in South Africa, as well as in neighboring countries. Her ultimate aspiration is to tour the globe doing what she loves, and she strongly believes that this milestone is within reach.
She draws inspiration from industry icons such as Vinny Da Vinci, DJ Christos, Black Coffee, and Lamiez Holworthy, seeing a part of herself reflected in each of them. Lee views herself as a leader who serves with humility and generosity, often referring to herself as a queen who shares her bread while leading from behind. Her guiding mantra, "STOP & LISTEN," encapsulates her approach to performance, and her sets consistently leave audiences wanting more.
Lee Da Cocktail is not only passionate but also driven by a desire to transform the music landscape, particularly by challenging the status quo in a male-dominated industry. Her distinctive sound has a unique appeal that resonates with diverse audiences.
