As we celebrate the Women Month, we're thrilled to welcome Nompumelelo Rosetta Hlatshwayo to the Cotton Sensei Podcast for an exclusive debut guest mix, professionally known as Rosetta D33P from Durban, Kwazulu Natal. Rosetta D33P is a DJ and music producer renowned for her expertise in deep house, while also demonstrating remarkable versatility across the broader house music spectrum. She rose to prominence through her emotionally resonant mixtapes, which have garnered over a million views on YouTube. Rosetta is not only recognized for her musical talent but also for her dedication to using music as a tool for empowerment, healing, and personal connection.

Rosetta’s artistry is rooted in creating transformative musical experiences spaces that allow for emotional release, self-reflection, and shared energy. Her work extends beyond performance, reflecting a deep commitment to community building, wellness, and advocating for positive change both within the music industry and beyond.

She began her professional music career in 2019 under the mentorship of the Godfathers of Deep House SA, and later enhanced her technical skills and theoretical knowledge by enrolling at the Pioneer DJ Institute. Since then, she has graced numerous prestigious stages and events both nationally and internationally, performing alongside some of the most respected names in the industry.

In 2022, Rosetta served as a resident DJ on Ukhozi FM from June to August, and also had a brief residency on Gagasi FM. That same year, she earned national recognition by winning the Shay’Ingoma Smirnoff Competition, a prestigious platform celebrating female DJs in South Africa.

Rosetta made her television debut on Uzalo, one of South Africa’s most watched TV shows, proudly representing female DJs from KwaZulu-Natal. She has also featured multiple times on DJ Mix Live (Channel 261 on DStv), where her live sets have captivated audiences. In December 2022, she performed at both the Netflix & Chill Activation and Showmax Event held at Umhlanga Beach, delivering dynamic house music sets to enthusiastic crowds.

With her growing influence and unwavering passion, Rosetta D33P continues to shape the landscape of house music while amplifying the voices of women in the industry. She is an artist on a mission and the journey has only just begun.
