Canada’s federal artificial intelligence minister has summoned senior safety officials from OpenAI to Ottawa after it emerged the company banned the ChatGPT account of a teenager who later carried out the deadly school shooting in Tumbler Ridge. Officials are now demanding answers about OpenAI’s safety protocols — including when and how the company decides to alert law enforcement.
