Another wonderful conversation with Indigo Wolff. We talk about Transgender Issues in a previous episode that you can find wherever you get your podcasts. Today we talk about what it's like to be a fat person living in a world not built for fat people, both in a literal and figurative sense. There's a fat tax no one talks about, there's limited seating, and the chance of paying extra to fly in an airplane. But, just as important, there isn't room for our fat friends in conversation about what it's like to be them. It might be awkward or hard to talk about it, but it's important to either let them have their say about their physical appearance or, just as valid, shut the hell up when it comes to their weight.

On top of how hard the last few years have been in general, I've been dealing with my dad being diagnosed with Alzheimer's. It's...a pretty shitty thing to deal with. I've been learning more by reading books, and that's helped a bunch. But, the thing that's made these last couple of years so bearable has been my relationship with my family. Those of us who lived on the other side of the country all moved home so we could be together through what is most likely going to be the hardest time our family has ever been through.
During my time back I've reconnected with my mom over spirituality. She's been giving me yoga lessons, giving me an insight into the spiritual aspects of the practice, rather than just how to keep my shoulders from hurting all the time. I'm blessed that I get to have such deep conversations with her, and I feel like they keep us both sane through all of this.

Today we got a special double feature for ya here at Counter Culture Media. I talk to Hannah Cook about the life of traveling the country for Enduro Racing. It's the extreme sport of riding downhill on a bicycle, trying not to eat it, and doing your best to SEND IT! The second course of this info meal is all about Hannah's expertise working at Colorado Parks and Wildlife. It's a very outdoorsy episode. If you like hiking, biking, camping, and drinking, you're about to have a really good time.

Things I didn't know before my conversation with Michelle: The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) wasn't around until 1990, and it really isn't very good, it seems to do the bare minimum it needs for people with disabilities to survive, and not so much to thrive. T-Mobile offered texting as a communication option for the hard of hearing years before it hit the mainstream and became our main form of communication. There's just so much about D/deaf culture that I was unaware of, and I'm super stoked that I got to talk with Michelle Richardson to make myself more aware of what life is like for the hard of hearing.
Something that is neat, and not so neat as I learn talking to Michelle, is that YouTube offers automatically generated Closed Captioning for the hard of hearing. It's why I'm striving to make sure I upload a video version of my podcast for every audio version. I mean...it's literally the least I can do to make things more accessible for the hard-of-hearing community.

Feeling our feelings is scary, man. I didn't feel my feelings for...most of my life to be honest. I am a boy, and boys don't cry. Not until you really bottle stuff up and it makes you lash out on everyone you love around you and almost ruin your life. Whoops.
On today's episode of Counter Culture Media, I interview the very wonderful Kris Godinez about where our reservations about getting help for our mental health comes from. To hear more from this talented woman, you can find her podcast on YouTube at https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCHk_36kn2zDnVL-d23tE6bg.
She has also written two books on psychology, 'What's Wrong With Your Dad' and 'You Can Lead A Horse To Water But You Can't Make 'Em Cha Cha: Why Some People Stay in Abuse and Some Don't' which you can find on Amazon and wherever fine books are sold.
The books recommended throughout the episode for self-help are:

I'm back after a long break to announce that I am back after a long break.
I've got some neat-o burrito interviews coming soon, but for now I really wanted to get a couple of interviews I did out into the podcastverse. I talk to a couple friends of mine, both 18 and both a part of the LGBQT+ community. I really just wanted their perspective on what it's like out there for young queer people. There's a lot that can go wrong for a non-heteronormative youth, but I was pleasantly surprised to find out that they both had a good community and support system to help them through.

I really like this episode. I learn a lot talking to my friend Indigo Wolfe about life as a Transgender person. They have training and education in the field of psychology, specifically in the realm of the LGBQT+ experience. I feel like this is a good starter guide for people who have a lot of questions about the lives of Transgender people, I mean, it was for me. It's hard to be a good ally when you're afraid to ask questions. I was lucky enough to find someone who not only specializes in answering them, but enjoys teaching people about it. I hope you enjoy <3

Hello friends. I've been gone for a minute, but I'm back. Part of my self-improvement project made me realize that I am my best self when I have a creative outlet, so here I am. I'm getting rid of the bells and whistles for the time being, but I still feel like these interviews need to be heard so I'm doing it. This week you get to learn a whole lot about Chiropracty and all the wonderful health benefits it entails. If you want me to start putting bells and whistles back in the episode, consider donating at Patreon.com/counterculturemedia.

I hope you enjoyed last week's episode on Magick. This week you get the full monty with Brian Von Wilderness Galvan and all about how Magick affects us on a daily basis. We get into the inspiration of where our magical leanings come from, both away from a church and towards what makes sense to us. We talk about different practices, different beliefs, crystals, chakras, chi, meditation, and simply just allowing yourself to open up to the everyday Magick of life. All you have to do is pay attention and you can see every aspect of your life as a magical one.

Just what the heck is Magick anyway? Woah! Did I even spell that right? Isn't that like some Harry Potter stuff? Magic is what we're told to stop believing in as soon as we figure out that Santa Claus was a sham, right? Wrong. Magick is real, yo. You can use Magick to get money, power, and women or, more importantly, a deeper understanding as to what this weird existence we all live is really all about. You want to learn about Alister Crowley and the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn as well as the Orto Templi Orientis? What about astrology? Tarot? The Kabbalah? How about a little of Carl Jung's collective unconsciousness? We've got it all baby. I sit down with Rock-Star Wizard Brian Von Wilderness Galven, creator of the Of Wilderness music project, and we talk all about how Magick has changed our lives. Enjoy!
