The deeply flawed Fire Services Levy Bill failed to pass in the Victorian Parliament yesterday. And the reprieve must be used to make fundamental changes to how farmers are charged

Also councils say it’s not fair that they are givwn the burden or collecting the levy on behalf of the state government and they too say rural communities shouldn’t be footing the bill

The western queensland flood recovery is being hampered by the slow retreat of the flood waters. This morning you’ll hear from the grazier who has been appointed to head the recovery. He’s still marooned on his own property.
