Farmers in Western Victoria thought they were looking down the barrel of an enormous feed bill, with the tremendously dry start to the year offering very little confidence for a promising season. Although, recent rainfall has greened up pastures and lifted spirits, with farmers now expecting a very different outcome.

After last week’s talks between US President Donald Trump and China’s President Xi Jinping in South Korea, tensions in the US‑China trade war have eased slightly, though no official deal has been reached. CommBank Economist Dennis Voznesenski says the impact on Australian agricultural markets is mixed.

The Centre for Invasive Species Solutions is leading a five-year project funded by the Australian Government’s Future Drought Fund, targeting Weeds of National Significance.

New research shows the digital divide between the regions and cities is widening. The Australian Digital Inclusion Index measures how Australians access and use digital technologies. Infrastructure is being flagged as one of the major barriers to improving access.
