sWORDed sojourner

Covenant renewed by Grace alone

Listen Later

Exodus 34:9-35; Psalm 30

In this episode, we talk about the renewed covenant between God and Israel, after Israel making for themselves an idol of worship, and after Moses interceding for Israel. Any covenant between God and any people must begin with a condescension on God's part, which is itself a grace. Now for God to renew a covenant with any people, already undeserving, yet breaking an original covenant by a most evil offence to God, is a testament to God's grace and mercy being greater than any sin could exhaust. It is by the Grace of the LORD alone (Sola gratia), that a covenant may be made, and even renewed.

It is by this inexhaustible grace that the sWORDed sojourner is sWORDed. Christ, a better Moses, intercedes for all who believe. He is the better mediator, mediating the new covenant between God and His church. He is the lamb whose blood speaks a better word than Abel's, and it speaks a better word on the sWORDed sojourner's behalf. All praise and thanks to God!

In Christ,

Samuel
