God's covenant is a shield of protection. The covenant was revoked by  the first Adam, and the second Adam came to restore God's covenant to  humanity. To revoke is to cancel, repeal, rescind, nullify, or abrogate  something. In other words, it means failing to follow suit despite  having the ability to do so.
