Mayor Derek Kawakami joined the conversation to share updates from the island of Kauai. Mayor Kawakami said that while Kauai is doing “great,” they are preparing for the reopening of interisland travel. He and his team are “a little bit on edge” with the recent news, but Kawakami feels comfortable with regards to testing and contact tracing capabilities. He encouraged Kauai residents to continue the sanitation and social distancing habits that proved to be effective in keeping Kauai’s infection rate low.
