COVID patients with severe symptoms who end up in intensive care units in hospitals are at are at risk of contracting an invasive fungal infection. This is according to researchers from the Pathogenic Yeast Research Group at the University of Free State in South Africa. They are concerned that although a serious fungal infection can be deadly, few people know that, especially those with a weakened immune system.
