Tales of the Texas Rangers, Ep# 19 – The Lucky Dollar

Tales of the Texas Rangers, a western adventure old-time radio western, premiered on July 8, 1950, on the US NBC radio network and remained on the air through September 14, 1952. Movie star Joel McCrea starred as Texas Ranger Jayce Pearson, who used the latest scientific techniques to identify the criminals and his faithful horse, Charcoal, to track them down.

Plot

A robber kills a storekeeper by turning off the electricity inside the store. The Rangers are led to a young Mexican girl and a "Dandy" suspect by a special kind of dollar. The premium "Texas Ranger Prayer" is available. It's 7:30 p.m. on August 14th, 1945, on a scorching hot night. Joe Barry counts up the day's receipts at his modest store in a small Texas town not far from Corpus Christie. When the lights go out, his wife Clare locks up in the back. An armed robber knocks him out when he goes outside to check the main switch box.
