Cozy Bear Bakery: If someone tells you their baked goods have zero calories, you should probably be suspicious—and intrigued.
That’s exactly how this conversation started on the Discover Montcalm Podcast with Karli Beckett, owner of Cozy Bear Bakery.
Karli joined me in the DW Video studio in Howard City, Michigan, and it was a full-circle moment. The last time I saw her was back in 2012 when she was a student involved in video productions at Greenville High School. Thirteen years later, she’s back—this time as a small business owner serving up cookies, cupcakes, breads, pretzels, and plenty of laughs.
Karli grew up in the Greenville–Rockford area, and her love for baking started early—right alongside her grandma. While she wasn’t allowed near the hot oven, she was trusted with mixing, rolling, and learning the joy of feeding people. That spark never went away.
Fast forward to April 2025, when Karli officially launched Cozy Bear Bakery, turning her passion into a business rooted in comfort, creativity, and community.
Cozy Bear Bakery offers a wide variety of homemade treats, including:
Classic and specialty cookies (chocolate chip, snickerdoodle, no-bakes, M&M, and more)
Custom decorated sugar cookies for birthdays, weddings, baby showers, and events
Cupcakes and cakes
Homemade breads
Chocolate-dipped and seasoned pretzels (including cinnamon and ranch flavors)
Some custom cookie orders—like holiday sets—can take six hours or more, and they disappear just as fast as they’re made.
Karli loves creating custom designs for special occasions, whether it’s a family reunion, a school event, or a bachelorette party (we’ll keep that one PG-13). If you can dream it up, there’s a good chance she can bake it.
She also takes food allergies seriously. With a peanut-allergic sister, Karli customizes recipes when needed and avoids almond extract altogether—making safety just as important as flavor.
Based in Gowen, Michigan, Karli currently offers pickup and delivery throughout the Greenville area and surrounding communities in Montcalm County—and yes, she’ll come to Howard City too (I feel special).
Looking ahead, she’s excited to get involved in:
Local craft shows
Farmers markets
Community events throughout Montcalm County
You can find Karli and her mouth-watering creations on:
Just search Cozy Bear Bakery (that’s Cozy with a C).
Remember—Christmas calories don’t count… and neither do Cozy Bear Bakery’s (at least that’s the story we’re sticking with).
