Radio New Zealand bosses will appear before a select committee today to set the record straight on a controversial meeting between senior RNZ manager Carol Hirschfeld and Broadcast Minister Clare Curran.

Hirschfeld repeatedly mislead RNZ bosses over a meeting with Curran in December, telling them she simply bumped into Curran at a Wellington cafe.

The meeting was in fact planned.

Former broadcast minister Craig Foss told Mike Hosking the meeting raises some serious questions.

"It undermines not only the minister itself and perceptions of her abilities and independence, it undermines the chair, the board, the CEO, other management."

Chairman Richard Griffin and chief executive Paul Thompson will appear before the select committee shortly.
