Asians, let’s inhale and exhale. Time for a heart-to-heart talk on some deep underlying issues within our community. This week, Diego and Steffi continue their “Crazy Rich Asians” discussion by talking about some of the controversies surrounding the movie such as Henry Golding’s casting as a biracial person, the movie not doing so well in China, and Awkwafina’s “Blaccent”. We also share our personal experiences with not feeling “Asian enough” and how we really feel about some specifically toxic Filipino traits within the community. And of course, we make note of and celebrate the strides in Asian representation in mainstream media since Crazy Rich Asians and how this movie impacted our lives.
