Created by Him, Restored by Him
“Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made.” - John 1:3.
When John begins his Gospel, he doesn’t start with Jesus in Bethlehem. He takes us back to the very beginning—before time itself. And there, in the beginning, Jesus already existed. He wasn’t created. He wasn’t an afterthought. He was with God, and He was God. Everything that exists came into being through Him. Nothing happened without Him.
That includes you.
You’re not a random result of circumstances. You weren’t born by accident or mistake. You were created—intentionally, lovingly—by Jesus Himself. That means your life has meaning. You were made on purpose, for a purpose.
And yet, John doesn’t stop with creation. Just a few verses later, in John 1:14, he says, “The Word became flesh.” The same Jesus who created everything stepped into His own creation. Why? Because something had gone terribly wrong. Sin had broken the world—and us. But instead of abandoning what He made, the Creator became one of us to restore what was lost.
That changes everything.
Jesus isn’t just the One who made you. He’s also the One who can remake you. When life feels broken, when you feel like you’ve messed up too much or strayed too far, remember this: the One who formed you knows exactly how to restore you. He doesn’t give up on what He creates. He finishes what He starts.
If you’re struggling today, if you’re longing for a fresh start, come back to the One who made you. He knows your heart. He knows your wounds. And He has the power to make all things new.
Let’s pray:
Lord Jesus, thank You for creating me. Thank You that I’m not here by chance, but by Your design. When I feel lost or broken, help me remember that You are not only my Creator but also my Restorer. I give You my heart today. Shape me, renew me, and lead me. Amen.
