The Better Self Project

Creating Capacity

Listen Later

On today's episode, Pamela and I discuss what it means to have enough capacity, mental space, and physical energy to live a healthy life.

It's difficult to implement healthy behaviors if we feel like we're always treading water. So what do we do if we're running out of space?

It usually starts with becoming aware. We need to hit pause and check in with our bodies and minds. What is draining us or running us into the ground? Let's assess and then work to cultivate some space. Are we prioritizing ourselves? Are we taking time to recover?

Perhaps, we need to look at how we prioritize our lives. If we're constantly engaging in "life-taking" behaviors where we give all of our energy to other people and do things that take our capacity away from us, we may need to shift.

We must prioritize our mental wellness, exercise, and sleep to gain capacity. We can't have physical or creative energy if we're sleep deprived. We can't always put ourselves last.

We also discuss ways where we can create more capacity in our lives in a way that allows us to continue improving and leveling up in our lives.
