Creating Infrastructure for the Next Generation of Web3 | Brennan Lamey | Kwil

Listen Later

In this episode, Jay speaks with Brennan Lamey, Founder of Kwil, a decentralized solution for storing off-chain data to manage enterprise-scale queries via SQL. Brendan shares what led him into the web3 space and to identifying the problem Kwil is seeking to solve. He discusses how a decentralized database can act as a smart contract, unique use cases he has seen in the community today, and how zero-knowledge proofs are an exciting form of forward thinking and validated ownership in the web3 space.

About Guest

Brennan is the founder of Kwil, a decentralized relational database providing data infrastructure to Web3 builders. During the COVID pandemic, Brennan spent time developing a decentralized communication platform called Ecclesia. While developing this platform, Brennan discovered that the data infrastructure that the team was building had applications outside of their own platform. The team pivoted to focus entirely on the data infrastructure, which is now known as Kwil. Brennan has since dropped out of college, and moved to Austin, Texas where the Kwil team is now based.

You’ll learn about:

  • How Kwil is utilizing blockchain technology to enable the creation, management, and utilization of a decentralized relational database
  • Why centralization is necessary
