Creating Lucky Breaks with Sachika Singh
Sachika is a creative, critical-thinker and sociologist whose passions lie in research and data analysis, community health, and social justice. At GlobeMed she is responsible for cultivating and maintaining healthy GlobeMed student chapters and their 1-to-1 partnerships with grassroots organizations around the world. She is a two-time graduate from the University of Cincinnati with a MA and BA in Sociology. Sachika graduated from BOLD 5 in 2021.
Here is what Sachika had to say about BOLD:
"As a staff member of a non-profit, the Board often feels like an inaccessible, enigmatic, and sometimes intimidating structure. Despite being strongly connected to a couple non profit organizations, I have never been quite sure of how to connect with the board -- and never considered that I could serve on one.
All of this changed through the Board Orientation + Leadership Development program by Leadership Council for Nonprofits. I participated in informative training and virtual sessions, deepening my expertise in the areas of: legal and fiduciary responsibilities, fundraising, strategic planning, succession planning, and assessment for nonprofit boards.
I learned that my character strengths include: an appreciation for beauty and excellence, a love of learning, and bravery. I also learned that age is not a qualification for board service; it’s the passion, expertise, and connections that you bring to the table that matter."
