Creativity as an Act of Worship
Scripture:
Psalm 90:17 — “Let the favor of the Lord our God be upon us, and establish the work of our hands…”
Devotional:
When you create, design, write, build, plan, or solve problems, you are using God-given creativity. That creativity can become worship when you invite God to bless and “establish the work of [your] hands.”
You don’t have to be an artist to create. A spreadsheet that makes sense out of complexity, a lesson plan that helps students grasp truth, a repaired machine, a beautifully plated meal, a well-designed system—all of these are forms of creativity. Each one can be offered to God as a gift.
When you ask God to establish your work, you are asking Him to do what you cannot: to give your efforts lasting value, to use them beyond what you can see, and to align them with His purposes. Creativity then becomes more than self-expression; it becomes a means of glorifying the Creator.
Reflection Questions:
Prayer:
Lord, thank You for the opportunity to create and build. Let Your favor rest on my work. Establish the work of my hands so that what I do today has lasting value in Your sight. Amen.
