Creator Spotlight: Elaine of miss_elaine_neous on Solo Exploration, Live Discovery, and Building a Business Around Curiosity

Elaine was an accountant with a University of Richmond degree, a job she liked, and a city she hadn't actually explored. When the pandemic anchored her in Richmond longer than planned, she started walking every street and park she'd skipped since graduating in 2017. Recording it was just something to do – and that habit made her one of Richmond’s most recognized content creators.

In this episode of Creator Spotlight, host Kayleigh sits down with Elaine to talk about the real economics of local content creation. They get into why paid posts don’t always pay the bills, how she built a background consulting on brands' social pages, and why she turned down her first paid gig's script the moment it stopped sounding like her. 

Elaine also breaks down the year she spent building a financial cushion before going full-time in June 2025, and the specific test she now runs on every partnership offer: would she go there if it wasn’t about her page?

K'won Smith almost missed the show that changed his career. He went to New York Fashion Week to support a friend backstage, not to walk. A casting director mistook him for one of the models and told him to come back the next day. He showed up, made an open casting where the other models voted on the final spot, and walked for Calvin Klein.

Two and a half years into modeling, Smith has built a résumé that includes New York Fashion Week, DC Fashion Week, Florida Men's Fashion Week, and Richmond's own RVA and Threaded Men's Fashion Weeks. He grew up in Petersburg with family across Richmond, and credits fellow models for pushing him to try modeling for himself. 

In this episode of Creator Spotlight, host Kayleigh talks with K’Won about getting scouted through networking and social media, taking roughly 100 no’s before his first yes, and what's next: stepping back from the runway to build his own agency.

Bria didn't set out to become Richmond's go-to food creator. She was already taking photos, and a friend told her to start a page. That was RVA Eats — launched somewhat unintentionally on Juneteenth 2022, now 13k followers deep and still growing on her own terms.

In this episode of Creator Spotlight, host Kayleigh sits down with Bria to talk about what it actually takes to build a local food platform in Richmond — the planning, the creative process, the shoots that go sideways, and the ones that click.
