Darren has been a dedicated presence in the Vancouver film industry since 1992, gaining extensive experience and building a diverse skill set over the years. In 2000, he made the decision to formally pursue his passion for writing and producing by enrolling in the prestigious Vancouver Film School. His studies at the school provided him with a solid foundation in both writing and producing, but he graduated just as the writer’s strike took hold, creating a challenge for his early career.During this period, Darren shifted gears and took on a senior position in the hospitality industry, where he managed conventions and trade shows. This role allowed him to continue nurturing his passion for writing in his free time while honing his organizational and leadership skills in a fast-paced environment.Committed to improving his craft, Darren has consistently sought opportunities to refine his skills as a writer. He has taken courses such as Robert McKee’s renowned Story seminar and has even explored the world of comedy through stand-up classes. Darren believes that all the world is a stage—even the blank page—and that every experience contributes to his growth as a writer.Currently, Darren works part-time as a Location Liaison, a role that offers flexibility and allows him the time and space to focus on his Spec Screenplays. This balance between his job and writing pursuits enables him to continue developing his storytelling abilities while staying actively engaged in the local film industry.
