In the spring of 1960 2nd generation artist Mario Bava set out to craft his directorial debut with a tale he used to frighten his children at night about a town rightfully plagued by superstition and in the death grips of a witches wrath. The project would go on to make its lead a mainstay in gothic horror and would inspire a whole generation of film makers.
